Altera is a mirrored monolith that emerges from the lake, gathering reflections of water, vegetation, sky and light. Its two angled planes interrupt the continuity of the view, making the surrounding landscape the main subject of the work. The observer’s image remains a shifting, secondary presence.
The sculpture seems to dissolve into its surroundings. Reflections in the mirror and on the water overlap, creating a doubled landscape that changes with the light and the viewer’s position.
